A New Beginning

It can be overwhelming not to secure a spot in the Match. Nonetheless, in that scenario, a new beginning is essential. Why, you may ask. NRMP stats indicate that more than 50 % of US MD graduates (applying at least a year after medical school) fail to secure a residency spot. While we do not have data to comment on the chances of IMGs matching with every successive application year, anecdotal reports suggest significant difficulties securing a training spot with every subsequent application cycle. Although not impossible, it requires identifying red flags in your application. This is crucial so that you can work to correct the deficit(s). New beginnings are tough but much needed, and they pay off big time.
