Some food for thought

Congratulations to all those who matched! This is the time to breathe and be proud of your achievement. You have crossed over. Please do spend some time rejoicing. Take some time off to travel or do what you need to do to relax before starting residency. For IMGs abroad, that also means finding out more about how to process visas and exploring the move to the US.

For those doing SOAP this week, stay strong. Do reach out to your advisors or people you can ask about the interviews you receive, if you need to decide between places. This would be a testing time, but it too shall pass.

Regardless of the boat you are in, we are offering complementary consultations. If you are an IMG from a foreign country, we can provide you with wisdom on how to assimilate fast into the system. If you’ve SOAPed and not really satisfied with your choice of specialty or place, we could offer some suggestions. With a few states passing new rules, you do not need a residency or a fellowship to practice medicine as a physician in the US. This applies to IMGs who have already done residencies and/or fellowships in their home countries.
